Most baby frocks sold in India — especially through quick-commerce and unbranded marketplaces — are dyed with AZO dyes. AZO dyes are synthetic colorants that can break down into aromatic amines, several of which are classified as carcinogens under European textile regulations. When a baby wears a brightly colored frock all day, AZO dye contact with moist, warm skin increases absorption risk.
